DOMINGO HAROLDO R. C. REINHARDT, agronomic engineer, graduated from the Federal University of Bahia (1977), MS in plant science at the Federal University of Ceará (1984), Ph.D. in Plant Biology at the University of California, Davis (1994). Author of more than two hundred papers on pineapple and other tropical fruits, published in national and international journals and technical-scientific books, has had an important performance in research on the cultural management and post-harvest aspects of pineapple and other tropical fruits. Is research scientist at Embrapa Cassava & Tropical Fruits since 1977 and has also worked as R&D director for about 13 years and as Director General for seven yers. He has broad international experience acting as International Connector of Embrapa Cassava & Fruits and carried out some international missions for Embrapa, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) and the Brazilian Agency for Cooperation (ABC). He has oriented theses works and taken part in examination committees in several universities. He has done peer reviews for several scientific journals and acted as chief-editor of the Brazilian Fruitculture Journal (RBF) and as member of the Editorial and Consultative Committees of the Brazilian Fruitculture Society (SBF). Since 2007 he has been the acting coordinator of the Pineapple Working Group of the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS). He was Embrapa's representative at the National Fruitculture Chamber of the Ministry of Agriculture from 2009 to 2018 and at the Latinamerican Banana Network from 2009 to 2015. He has earned some awards due to his professional activities, such as the Frutal Award of Technolgy (Prêmio Frutal de Tecnologia) 2001 and 2002, given by the Frutal Institute (Instituto Frutal) and Embrapa Tropical Agroindustry; the most efficient project leader of EMBRAPA, Program 17 (Fruits); ?Distinguished Visitor? of the city of Veracruz, México, during the IV International Pineapple Symposium, in 2002; and the distinction by the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) in recognition of the well-succeeded organization of the VI International Pineapple Symposium carried out in João Pessoa, Brazil, in 2007, the International Symposium on Tropical Fruirs under Subtropical Conditions, Lisbon, 2010, and the IX International Pineapple Symposium in Havana, Cuba, in 2017; certificate of recognition of the special services in favor of the Brazilian Fruitculture, given by the Brazilian Fruitculture Society, 2014. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences of Bahia (ACB).
