Bachelor's at Zootecnia from Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (1974), master's at Produção Animal from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1984) and doctorate at Genetics from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1991). He is currently full professor at Universidade Federal do Pará. Has experience in Zoothecny, focusing on Genetics and Improvement of Domestic Animals, acting on the following subjects: animal breeding and buffaloes and others animals conservation. Currently its BAGAM coordinator.
