Liana Jank has a degree in AGRONOMY from the University of São Paulo - ESALQ (1978), Master of Science in AGRONOMY - pasture management - University of Florida (1982) and PhD in Plant Breeding - University of Florida (2001). Works at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA) as a researcher level A. Works with Forage Plant Breeding and is responsible for the projects of development of Panicum maximum cultivars that resulted in the commercial release of cv. Tanzania-1, Mombaça, Massai, BRS Zuri and BRS Tamani; curator of the Active Germplasm Bank of Panicum maximum with activities in conservation and morphological and agronomic characterization of accessions of the collection. Works mainly on the following topics: genetic improvement, development of new cultivars, seed and forage production of forage species, apomixis, cytogenetics, chromosomic and molecular characterization of forage grasses. She disseminates the released cultivars through field days, interviews in the media and training of seed producers, ranchers and technicians and inspectors of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. Leader of the genus Panicum maximum in the cooperation agreement Embrapa-UNIPASTO and general manager of the annual work plans within this agreement.
