Sérgio Miana de Faria is a Brazilian researcher who holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Dundee in the UK and completed a postdoctoral program at Université Montpellier II in France in 2005. Currently, he works as a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and serves as a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Environmental and Forestry Sciences at UFRRJ. His research focuses on the interaction between microorganisms and plants, particularly in the area of biological nitrogen fixation. Sérgio has made significant contributions to the recovery of degraded areas and nutrient cycling. Throughout his career, he has supervised numerous dissertations and theses related to these subjects. According to the AD Scientific Index 2025, he has an h-index of 42 and has received 6,067 citations for his publications.
