Mini-curriculum
Bachelors degree in Meteorology from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA/1982) and in Agronomy from the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (formerly the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences - FCAP/1987). Master's degree in Agrometeorology from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/1998) and a Ph.D. in Crop Science/Agrometeorology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS/2007). She worked at the Pará State Department of Agriculture from July 1982 to February 1990, when she joined Embrapa Soils as Researcher A through a public selection process, where she worked until December 2008. In a transfer process, she began her activities at Embrapa Eastern Amazon in Belém from 2009 to July 2016, later continuing her research at the Research and Technology Transfer Support Center (NAPT Médio Amazonas) in Santarém, PA. In October 2021, she assumed the position of Supervisor of NAPT Médio Amazonas, a role she continues to hold to this day. Throughout her scientific career, she has had the opportunity to lead projects in both national and international networks. Leading the Brazilian team in the ROBIN/BR project (Role of Biodiversity in Climate Change Mitigation) was challenging yet highly productive. This project involved key institutions within an international network (WU Netherlands / Alterra Netherlands / NERC UK / PIK Germany / UNI-KLU Austria / UPM Spain / CONABIO Mexico / EMBRAPA Brazil / GFC Guyana / IBIF Bolivia / INECOL Mexico / UNAM Mexico). Another notable international collaboration was a project under the Embrapa Marketplace Program that utilized clay pots as an irrigation strategy. In Brazil, this innovation was modeled to create a fully autonomous system known as the IrrigaPote Project. Established in 2016, the IrrigaPote Technological Reference Unit (URT) in Santarém was recognized in 2024 as a qualified technology by Embrapa and received the Social Technology award from Banco do Brasil the same year. Several IrrigaPote trials are fully operational. Among national network projects, she notably contributed to the PECUS Network, leading the Component 7 Project (PC7), which assessed greenhouse gas dynamics in livestock systems within the Amazon Biome. She also participated in the MAPCAST project, the Ecological-Economic Zoning Project (UZEE), and the AgroMet ABC project, supported by Banco da Amazônia. Her extensive scientific contributions include modeling the distribution of forest species, which facilitated the development of topoclimatic zoning methodologies for native species in the Amazon. She serves as a permanent professor in two graduate programs: the BIONORTE Network (Amazon) and the Society, Nature, and Development program (PPGSND) at the Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA). She has also been actively involved in mentoring students across various fields of knowledge, supervising at both graduate and undergraduate levels. She served as President of the Curatorial Board of the Amazon Integration Foundation (FIAM/UFOPA) from 2022 to 2023. Member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Society of Meteorology (SBMET) and has participated in organizing committees for Meteorology, Agrometeorology, and Agroforestry Systems Congresses. Additionally, she has collaborated within Embrapa's SDG Network, leading the Senior Master Working Group. In 2024, she joined the Scientific Committee of the LBA Program (Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia).
