Agronomist, PhD in Soil Science University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (Boku) Vienna, Austria (1993) and post-doc at the Agricultural and Environment Division of Rothamsted Research (1997). Experience in zero tillage on tropical acid soils, crop rotation with cover crops, soil organic matter dynamics, and precision agriculture for soil fertility management and site-specific natural resource management such as variability of soil carbon accumulation on zero-till soil. Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Soil Science and reviewer of Geoderma, Soil & Tillage Research, and Science of the Total Environment. Director General of Embrapa Rice and Beans, Santo Antonio de Goias, Brazil (2009-2013). Member of the Council for Strategic Advice of the Agreenium-Institut Agronomique, Véterinaire et Forestier de France (2017-2019). I was the Coordinator of the Embrapa Labex Europe Programme to promote scientific collaboration between Embrapa and European scientists. Presently I am a research scientist at Embrapa Rice and Beans and member of the CGIAR - System Council.
