Mini-curriculum

Francisco Ferraz Laranjeira is an agronomist (1993), specialist in Plant Protection (1997) from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Master and PhD in Plant Pathology (2002) from the University of São Paulo (USP). With a postdoctoral degree in Biomathematics from the University of Cambridge (UK, 2010), he was a visiting researcher at Rothamsted Research (UK, 2012), working with Computational Biology. MBA in Project Management from USP (2021). Researcher at Embrapa Cassava and Fruit Farming since 2001, he has been the current General Head since 2022, having been Deputy Head of Research, Development and Innovation (2016 to 2022). Since 2015 he has been Coordinator (2015-2018), executive secretary (2018-2021) and member of the steering committee (2021-2022) of Embrapa's Plant Health Portfolio. He was a CNPq research productivity fellow (2004-2020), advisor for a master's degree in agricultural microbiology at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB) and a researcher at the IAC (1993-2001). Since 2018 he has been Embrapa's representative in the Citrus Sectorial Chamber. He works in the area of Agronomy (Phytopathology), with emphasis on Epidemiology, Ecology of Phytopathogens and Biomathematical Methods. He also works in Innovation Management, with an emphasis on prioritization models, decision-making in project portfolios and articulation of translational research with the private sector. Instructor and moderator of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for decision making in public institutions. Its main lines of research are Spatio-Temporal Dynamics in Pathosystems and the Integration of Epidemiological Actions with Plant Defense.
