Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Viçosa (1992), earned a master's degree in Animal Science from the Federal University of Viçosa (1995), and DSc in Animal Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2002). Was a visiting scientist at Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, in Manchester, England (2016). He is currently a researcher at Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology, and advisor in the graduate programs in Animal Biology at the University of Brasília (UNB) and in Reproduction, Health and Animal Welfare at the University José do Rosário Vellano (UNIFENAS). He is AdHoc Consultant for funding agencies such as CNPq and CAPES. He was a full professor at the Juiz de Fora Higher Education Center from 2002 to 2012. He was vice-president and president of the Brazilian Embryo Technology Society (2004-2005 and 2006-2007, respectively). He is responsible for the SBTE Statistics Committee and Chair of the Data Retrieval Committee of the International Embryo Technology Society (IETS). He was member of the Health and Safety Advisory Committee (HASAC) and the IETS Foundation, and is currently a member of the IETS Board of Governors (BoG). He is vice-coordinator of the Brazilian Network for Animal Reproduction (ReBran) and vice-leader of the CNPq INCT Project in Animal Reproduction. He has experience in the areas of animal reproduction physiology and biotechnology, working mainly on the following topics: cattle, ovarian physiology, in vivo and in vitro embryo production, and imaging diagnosis.
