Guy de Capdeville is Graduated in Agronomy from the Federal University of Viçosa (1992), has a professional Master's degree in plant protection (1995) from UFV, a "stricto sensu" Master's degree in Phytopathology from the Federal University of Viçosa (1996), a PhD in Plant Pathology - Cornell University - USA (2001) and Post-doctorate in plant cytogenetics - Wageningen University - Netherlands (2008). He served as Deputy Head of Research and Development at Embrapa Agroenergia (2011 to 2016) and as General Head of Embrapa Agroenergia between (2016 to 2019). Between 2020 and 2023 he assumed the position of Executive Director of Research and Development at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation. He is currently a Senior Researcher at Embrapa Agroenergia. He has experience in Agronomy, with an emphasis on Plant Pathology, working mainly on the following topics: Pathogen x host interaction at the molecular and ultrastructural level, biological control of pathogens in post-harvest fruit plants, plant cytogenetics (physical mapping of pathogen resistance genes in meiotic chromosomes in the pachytene phase), in addition to the development of light and electron microscopy techniques to support the functional characterization of genes and Biological Control agents. More recently, he started to work on the topic of Microbiomes through the development of microbiomes by mean of the so-called ("Host mediated Microbiome Engineering - HMME" - Host Mediated Microbiome Engineering) aimed at the production of crops of Agroenergetic interest in marginal or degraded areas of the Central West and Northeast of Brazil.
