Mini-curriculum

He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Piauí (1995), a master's degree (1998) and a doctorate (2002) in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (USP). He is currently a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation-EMBRAPA, the Mid-North Agricultural Research Center-CPAMN, and a permanent professor in the Postgraduate Course in Agronomy (PPGA). He is the leader of the Cowpea research group at CNPq and the national coordinator of the cowpea genetic improvement program at EMBRAPA. He was a permanent professor of the Postgraduate Course in Food and Nutrition (PPGAN) at the Federal University of Piauí-UFPI (2010 to 2025), having also served as sub-coordinator of PPGAN/UFPI between 2020 and 2023. He was a Research Productivity 2 scholarship holder (2012-2015) and a Technological Development and Innovative Extension Productivity scholarship holder (2018-2021) and is currently a Research Productivity 2 scholarship holder (2022-present). He participated in the organization of more than 15 technical-scientific events, including congresses, conferences, symposia and scientific meetings. He chaired scientific committees for events and served as vice-president at national cowpea congresses and a biofortification meeting in Brazil. He has experience in Genetics and Breeding of Annual Plants, with an emphasis on Pulses, working on the following topics: plant breeding, quantitative genetics, cowpea, mung bean, food biofortification and adaptability and stability of cultivars.
