With over 100 articles published in high-impact scientific journals, 10 books, and 29 book chapters, Lineu Neiva Rodrigues holds a Master's and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) and a postdoctoral degree in Irrigation Engineering and Water Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. Currently, he serves as a researcher in water resources and irrigation at Embrapa Cerrados.In addition to his research activities, he is an advisor for the Graduate Programs in Agricultural Engineering at UFV and Agronomy (Irrigation and Drainage) at the School of Agronomic Sciences - Botucatu Campus. He also serves as the Director of Public Policies at the Brazilian Association of Agricultural Engineering (SBEA). With extensive academic and scientific experience, he provides consultancy to research funding agencies and renowned scientific journals, and coordinates the Agrohydro Research Network, linked to CNPq.Throughout his career, Lineu has been an associate editor of the Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies and a consultant for the Organization of American States (OAS). He has also worked as a visiting researcher at Imperial College London, the Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources at the University of California-Davis (USA), and the Department of Geoinformatics, Hydrology, and Modeling at Friedrich-Schiller University in Germany.At Embrapa, he has held leadership positions such as Deputy Head of Research and Development at Embrapa Cerrados, a member of the Technical Training Commission, and Supervisor of the International Articulation Unit. He also participated in the Steering Committee for Embrapa's Climate Change and Irrigated Agriculture Project Portfolios and represented Brazil on the Water Resources and Irrigation Technology Platform of PROCISUR. In the governmental sector, he served as a full member of the Technical Chamber for Project Analysis, President of the Technical Chamber of Science and Technology, and a full advisor to the National Water Resources Council (CNRH).His research focuses on the sustainable management of water and soil, with an emphasis on irrigated agriculture in the Cerrado biome. In 2024, he published six scientific articles addressing topics such as soybean sensitivity to water deficits, showing up to 40 reductions in productivity during critical growth stages (R1-R5). Other studies highlighted the development of pedotransfer functions (PTFs) to estimate soil hydraulic properties and the spatio-temporal dynamics of center pivot irrigation in the Cerrado, emphasizing challenges for sustainable water management.Additionally, he contributed to the calibration of actual evapotranspiration models in irrigated systems and explored the use of seasonal climate forecasts to estimate irrigation demands, yielding promising results for short-term predictions. He also developed the Production Viability Index (PVI), an innovative tool for planning rainfed and irrigated agriculture in the Cerrado, aiding in the identification of high-potential areas and promoting sustainable agricultural strategies.Research Interests: Irrigation, Water Resources, Hydrology, Climate Change.
