Mini-curriculum

Sandra Nogueira is a researcher at Embrapa - Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, working in the areas of soil science, geoprocessing and remote sensing. She is a biogeochemist who works with the effects of land use and coverage changes on the dynamics of carbon, nitrogen and soil nutrients; precision agriculture; qualification of livestock systems and monitoring pasture productivity through orbital sensors. Dr. Nogueira received her BS in Agriculture Engineering and licentiate in Agricultural Sciences from University of São Paulo (USP) in 1995. Post-graduated as Master of Sciences, with emphasis in Nuclear Energy in Agriculture, at CENA/USP (2003), addressing the theme of biogeochemistry of wetlands and quality of water. Post- graduated as a PhD in Sciences, with emphasis in Chemistry in Agriculture and Environment, also at CENA/USP (2007), focusing on global carbon and nitrogen balance in agroecosystems (greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration). She joined Embrapa Satellite Monitoring in 2008, where she performed and coordinated projects in the areas of remote sensing and livestock. In 2017, she started working at Embrapa Environment, connecting her biogeochemistry and geoprocessing knowledge to planning and execution of new studies. It is noteworthy that between 2011 and 2014, she participated in the Task Force of the National Gas Inventory (IPCC) as the lead author of a Supplement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines.
