Mini-curriculum

Graduated in Biological Sciences (2001), Master's (2004) and PhD (2008) in Microbiology/Virology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), having specialized in mechanisms of gene and protein expression and inhibition, molecular and cellular signaling; and the parasite-host relationship. He was a professor at the University Center of Sete Lagoas (UNIFEMM) and the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG).He joined the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in 2009. He assists the Brazilian government in technical/scientific issues involving Research, Development and Innovation, at the national level, in different competencies, and internationally, through bilateral and multilateral cooperation, mainly for its work with the Global Aegis Forums of the United Nations (UN).His areas of interest include: Biotechnology; Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs); Biosafety; Synthetic Biology; Genetic Resources; Gene and Protein Expression and Inhibition; Risk Assessment and Analysis; Molecular biology; Biochemistry; Genetics; Microbiology; Virology; Convention on Biological Biodiversity (CBD), Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (PCB), Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and Fair and Equitable Benefit Sharing (ABS), FAO Genetic Resource Commissions and the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA).Brazilian representative on the FAO Biodiversity Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture; Member of the National Technical Commission on Biosafety (CTNBio); Sectorial Chamber of the Academy of Genetic Heritage Management Council (CSA/CGEN); National Council of Science and Technology; and Coordinator of the Subcommittee on Biodiversity of the Commission for Sustainable Development of Agriculture (CDSA/MAPA).
