Mini-curriculum

I am a graduate in Biological Sciences from the State University of Londrina (2002), with a Master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the State University of Londrina (2004), and a Ph.D. in Sciences - Concentration Area in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP) (2009). Since 2010, I have been working as a Researcher at Embrapa Agroenergy (National Center for Agroenergy Research - CNPAE). My expertise lies in the field of Genetics, with emphasis on Molecular Genetics and Microorganisms (especially filamentous fungi).I have served as a co-supervisor for Master's and Ph.D. programs in Biotechnology (Federal University of Tocantins), Molecular Biology (University of Brasília), and Chemical and Biological Technologies (University of Brasília). Additionally, I have worked as a reviewer for journals such as Plos One, European Journal of Plant Pathology, Canadian Journal of Microbiology, Critical Reviews in Microbiology, Critical Reviews in Biotechnology, Physiologia Plantarum, Biotechnology for Biofuels and Bioproducts, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Journal of Plant Pathology, Sugar Tech, Chemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture, Journal of Microbiological Methods, and Brazilian Journal of Microbiology.The common themes associated with my scientific production include taxonomy and phylogeny of microorganisms, polyphasic isolation and identification of microorganisms, fungus-plant interaction, endophytic microorganisms, genetic instability in fungi, fungal mutagenesis, fungal genetic variability, molecular markers, parasexual recombination in fungi, Agrobacterium-mediated fungal transformation, study of gene function, random insertional mutagenesis, CRISPR/Cas9 technology applied to filamentous fungi, secondary metabolism of endophytic fungi, genetic improvement of filamentous fungi, industrial enzymes, expansins, lytic polysaccharide mono-oxygenases (LPMOs), expression of expansins and LPMOs in Pichia pastoris (Komagataella phaffii), microbial contamination of biodiesel and diesel, organic acids, kojic acid, lactic acid, natural dyes, antimicrobial metabolites, and plant growth-promoting microorganisms.Regarding management activities, I served as the executive secretary of the Strategic Management Portfolio Committee for Genetic Resources for Food, Agriculture, and Bioindustry, with a term from 11/2014 to 02/2019. Currently, I am a member of the Internal Biosafety Committee (CIBio) and the Local Intellectual Property Committee (CLPI) at Embrapa Agroenergy.At Embrapa Agroenergy, my research focuses on Microbial Genetic Resources; Genetic Improvement of Filamentous Fungi of Agricultural and Industrial Interest; Industrial Enzymes; Bioactive Metabolites of Fungi; and Plant Growth-Promoting Microorganisms. I have coordinated/participated in various projects in collaboration with the productive sector, aiming at the development of technological assets for agriculture and bioindustry.
