Despite the importance of soils, in Brazil few maps and respective reports are published at ascale of 1:100.000 or with even greater precision. Technicians and rural producersconsequently do not have access to specific data about soil characteristics, and especiallyabout the changes that can be seen in these landscapes. Because of this lack of data, manyrural areas are often seen to be used incorrectly, leading to losses of important ecologicalfunctions. The PronaSolos PR project was created to generate this data, and began in 2018 inthe Paraná III watershed (western Paraná state). These soil surveys span 11,000 m 2 and utilizea semi-detailed scale. At the same time, more detailed surveys are conducted on thevegetation that protects rivers and springs, recording data about its composition andstructure, particularly functional aspects. Fluvial soil/vegetation maps and respective technicaldocumentation will be produced, containing essential information for land use and preservingnatural resources, with an emphasis on soils, vegetation, and water. This information will beplaced in a database that will be made available to the public in 2021.
