CEVAD Campo high-density field cultivation system for yerba mate

Innovative high-tech management process entailing a dense field yerba mate production system aimed at obtaining higher levels of productivity, which allows for year-round biomass harvest, following the example of the system used for Camellia sinensis. This system was designed to produce young yerba mate leaves, especially for non-traditional uses, such as teas and industrial extraction of bioactive compounds.
FEATURES - System with a high yield of young leaves; - Up to a 160% increase in productivity in 4 years; - High potential for harvest mechanization, with a cost 2/3 lower than the conventional system; - Potential of annual returns 8x higher than in the conventional one; - Opening new markets for value-added products made of yearbamate or its bioactive compounds: pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, fine teas, etc.; - Yerbamate production in smaller areas.
