On Thursday (19), at 11h, United Nations Office of South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the Brazil Africa Institute (Ibraf) will hold the virtual launch event of the publication titled "Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the Context of Food Security", which contains over 40 good practices on agriculture and food security.

Such iniciatives highlight innovative enterprises that illustrate the central tenets of effective South-South and triangular cooperation, address transnational development challenges, spotlight  solutions that have been piloted and scaled up that have led to tangible development outcomes.

Five good practices were selected to be showcased during the webinar, including “African Youth Technical Training Program on Post-Harvest Processing of Cassava”, which will be presented by the researcher Alfredo Augusto Cunha Alves, supervisor of Embrapa Cassava and Fruits' International Relations team.

The training has been offered since 2017 in the scope of Ibraf's Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP), which promotes the visit of young Africans to Brazil to build their capacity in areas like agriculture and technology. Every year each group of participants receives information about good practices in cassava cultivation and post-harvest processing through theoretical and practical lessons at the Embrapa center's labs and experimental fields, visits to family farmer-run processing units, or at partner research and technology transfer institutions.

Besides Embrapa Cassava and Fruits', the other good practices will be demonstrated by representatives of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme Regional Centre of Excellence Against Hunger and Malnutrition in Côte d’Ivoire, and the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (Fara).
