The adoption of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) contributes to the development of scientific research, as they result in greater reliability and efficiency of the results. In order to follow some of the current standards, such as GLP or ISO 17025, the laboratory must adopt measures of organization, control, training, standardization and registration of its activities. The laboratory must also adopt practices that guarantee the safety of its personnel and the community in general. Among these is Status: Completed Start date: Tue Jul 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2008 |
Losses caused by the parasitism by ticks in cattle are estimated at 3.24 billion dollars annually in Brazil, largely due to procedural errors, such as the systematic and often inappropriate use of acaricides, resulting in selection and proliferation of populations of acaricide-resistant ticks. In addition, there is a growing demand for new alternatives in pest control, aiming at minimum use of chemicals, in order to preserve the environment and ensure residue-free food. In this context, biologic Status: Completed Start date: Sun Jun 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2014 |
The pest aphids Sipha flava and Rhopalosiphum padi have caused significant injuries in elephantgrass and brachiaria swards, respectively. Thus, the objective of this project was to evaluate the bioecology of these pest insects and the predator Chrysoperla externa. The biological aspects of the pests were studied at 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32ºC. Temperatures of 20ºC and 24ºC were more favorable for insect development, and this temperature range is the most appropriate for t ... Studies on risk factors in dairy herds and their economic impact are available in countries with developed dairy production. This information is used to direct and prioritize procedures that improve herd health and avoid problems such as high total bacterial count and presence of antimicrobial residues in milk. In countries with developed dairy farming most herds are comprised of high-producing animals of specialized breeds and raised in total or partial confinement systems. In Brazil, there is Status: Completed Start date: Wed Aug 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
Grassland intensification strategies such as fertilization and irrigation can be used to shorten the period required for recovery of paddocks under rotational management and thus to increase the productivity. In rotational stocking grazing, the definition of the resting and grazing periods of the paddocks, besides determining the total number of paddocks, exerts a great influence on the quantity and quality of the forage produced. The post-grazing residue, determined by the grazing period and th Status: Completed Start date: Sat Sep 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
