Research Lines
Exploration of oleaginous plants and characterization of vegetable oils; synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts for biogas reform and conversion of vegetable oils; obtaining and characterizing nanofibers; preparation of composites and nanocomposites from renewable feedstocks; destinations for residual lignin; development of processes for extraction of active compounds from waste biomass; pyrolysis of biomass to produce biochar and pyrolene extract.
Structure and equipment
With an area of 220 m2, it has the following equipments: bipotentiostat/galvanostat, sieve shaker for particle size analysis, preparative liquid chromatography (HPLC) system, 2 liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems - one with ELSD/RID detector and the other DAD -, 450CC high pressure reactor, multiple high pressure reactor, 2 glass reactors for chemical processes of 1 and 5 liters, reactor for pressure up to 12 bar, MDGC/GCMS multidimensional chromatography system coupled to the high pressure reactor, liquid chromatography system coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), gas chromatography system with FID and TCD detectors coupled to the high pressure reactor, UV-Vis spectrofluorimeter, FTIR, moisture analyzer scale particle size and zeta potential determiner, mini spray dryer, flow synthesis system, viscometer, calorimeter, various mills, centrifuges, solvent extraction systems, thermostatic baths, scales, and greenhouses.
