Innovation Network in Animal Reproduction: new technologies for the productive sector
The Innovation Network in Animal Reproduction adds skills among the different teams that work in the area of animal breeding biotechnology at Embrapa with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of animal production chains in Brazil. Among the objectives, the following stand out: creation of new technological platforms in this area, transfer of technologies generated by the component projects and consolidation of Embrapa as a reference institution for the formation of public policies related to reproduction biotechnology.
The Network covers research with different embryo technologies for animal production in Brazil, considering the geographical distribution, recent evolution and future trends. It also develops alternative solutions in breeding biotechnology for the new animal production systems in Brazil and for the preservation, exchange and trade of animal germplasm.
It also includes research on the characterization of reproductive phenotypes in animal species of zootechnical interest (dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, buffaloes and equines), identifying factors related to the greater reproductive efficiency of races, lineages or individuals, so that the information generated can be applied immediately or in future in animal breeding programs.
