BRS Anahi is a sesame cultivar whose agronomic performance outperforms other cultivars in the different regions of Brazil. In addition to high yield, it has qualitative characteristics of interest for the industry, which meet the requirements of both the domestic and foreign markets. It presents seeds with a clear hull, which are much larger than those available in the market, and adaptation to mechanized or manual harvesting. The cultivar presents greater seed retention in the pods (semi-dehiscence), cream-colored seeds, early cycle with about 90 days, non-branched growth habit, erect plant architecture, yield potential of up to 1,600 kg / ha and content of up to 52% oil.

Agronomic Characteristics:

Seeds: Whitish; Cycle: 90 days; Growth habit: Unbranched; Plant architecture: Erect; Stem color: Dark green; Yield potential (kg): 1,600 kg / ha; Oil content: 52%; Harvest: Directly Mechanized or Manual

Economic benefit:

BRS Anahí is a cultivar with traits that meet the demands of table consumption as it has whitish seeds and, due to its high oil content, also suits the oil industry, with excellent yields and increased productivity in comparison with cultivars with lower oil content in the seeds. Because it is erect and without branching, it constitutes an important step in densified cropping systems with mechanized harvesting. This characteristic also facilitates the handling of plants in manual harvesting with reduced rates of grain losses to the soil.

Who benefits from it? Farmers; Agribusiness; Food industry; Pharmaceutical, Oil, Chemical and Cosmetics Industries
