Tecnobroto is an automated and environmentally-friendly system for soybean sprout production. It uses moisture-resistant containers as well as equipment to control the temperature and reuse of irrigation water. The irrigation time periods and slots are controlled by a timer that allows the farmer to program the operation of the irrigation system, defining the time length and number of irrigations. To ensure the quality of the soybean sprout, the seeds must have high germination power and vigor, and be free from contamination by seeds of other species. It also requires special soybean cultivars, whose fundamental characteristic is small seed size (weight of 100 seeds has to be lower than 10g). The yield, referring to the seed / sprout ratio, is high, and a kilo of seeds can produce five to twelve kilos of sprouts. Soybean sprouts are nutritious food, whose production does not use any type of fertilizer or pesticide. They are totally natural products, which only use the reserves stored in the seeds to germinate and reach the size required to be consumed. Appreciated for their taste and nutritional value as a source of proteins, vitamins and minerals, soybean sprouts are a healthy and low-calorie food.
