The cultivar BRS 8980IPRO is a soybean cultivar that, in addition to grain yield, resistance to the main soybean diseases and the cycle adapted to the agroclimatic conditions of the MATOPIBA region, has tolerance to the glyphosate herbicide.By expressing the Bt protein (INTACTA RR2 PRO®), it offers protection against the main caterpillars of the soybean crop: soybean caterpillar (Anticarsia gemmatalis), looper moth caterpillar (Chrysodeixis includens and Rachiplusia nu), tobacco budworm (Heliothis virescens) and bean shoot moth (Crocidosis aporema), in addition to suppression of Elasmo (Elasmopalpus lignosellus) and Helicoverpa (H. zea and H. armigera) caterpillars. It is resistant to phytophora root rot, brown stem rot, bacterial pustule, common soybean mosaic virus and stem necrosis virus.
