Developed with a focus on family farming in the Northeast Sertão, where rain is scarce and falls only for a short time, BRS Gorotuba corn is a variety of open pollination and super early cycle, suitable for regions where the rainy season may not be long enough for early cultivars to complete their reproductive cycle, without reducing their productive potential. It reaches male flowering 6 to 7 days before early varieties, and, until physiological maturation, this difference can reach 15 or 20 days.
With hard yellow-orange grains, the variety has good resistance to lodging and stalk breakage, and shows genetic potential to yield up to 5 tons per hectare in the semi-arid Northeast.
In addition, BRS Gorotuba variety is a good option for planting schedulling, enabling the producer to meet the requirements of agricultural zoning of climatic risk in late plantings in regions of great agricultural potential, such as the Northeast Agreste. In these conditions of cultivation, it becomes an interesting option for social programs of multiplication and delivery of seeds proposed by governmental and non-governmental agencies to be developed with rural communities and settlements, for example.
