BRS Leila is a hybrid curly lettuce cultivar, with tolerance to early blooming (tasseling), a trait that increases the sustainability of cultivating the crop in tropical regions. The cultivar is also well adapted to different production systems and can be cultivated both in open fields and in protected cultivation. Due to its conical shape, it can also be grown in a hydroponic production system. BRS Leila's foliage is bright olive green, ornamented with a flashy cut-out pattern on leaf edges. The plants are medium sized and have a thick stem, which allows for easy harvesting and adequate post-harvest handling. When grown within the recommended spacings, the cultivar produces heads weighing between 700 and 800g. In regions with warmer climates, its cycle is 35 days long, and in places with cooler climates, 45 days long. BRS Leila shows good levels of resistance to gall nematodes ( Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica) and resistance to some lettuce mosaic virus pathotypes ( Lettuce mosaic virus).
