Our business
Embrapa Agroenergy is one of the 43 research units of Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and works to promote the competitiveness of the Brazilian bioeconomy. Its business model is focused on the generation of pre-technological and technological assets for insertion in the innovation market. Therefore, it adopts an open innovation model, which allows it to cooperate with public and private institutions and companies to co-develop efficient and sustainable solutions for the conversion of biomass and agro-industrial residues into biofuels and bioproducts. The Unit's management model integrates Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) with Technology Transfer (TT) and is structured in four thematic axes: Biomass for Industrial Purposes, Industrial Biotechnology, Chemistry of Renewables and Renewable Materials.
