Solution - Develop with us a technological solution

Partnership is the watchword in our Research, Development, and Innovation program. In almost all of our projects, we have the participation of public or private organizations. Your institution or your company can also be our partner in developing a technology. It can work with us from conception to the final result, in a co-creation process. Another possibility is to become interested in one of our technological assets, in an intermediate stage of development, and participate in the more advanced stages of research until it is placed on the market. In this case, we work in co-development.

Regardless of the model, the partnership is formalized by legal instruments in order to protect the interests of the participating organizations and to ensure conditions for the effective economic exploitation of the products and processes to be developed.

Projects with industries can also be established within the Embrapii unit of Embrapa Agroenergy. This modality can be advantageous for companies whose focus is industrial biotechnology, since Embrapii provides 1/3 of the expected financial resources, and the contracting of the projects is independent of calls for proposals.

Technology - Use one of our technological assets

Embrapa Agroenergy's technologies that are not developed in partnership with commercial exploitation can be inserted in the innovation market through technological business such as technology licensing or technology supply.

Technology Licensing:authorization to exploit the intellectual property owned by Embrapa, either exclusively or not, for a determined period of time or until the end of its validity. In this modality, Embrapa retains the ownership of the technology and authorizes its use under conditions predetermined in the licensing contract. The retribution is called royalty, which is a percentage of any economic gain obtained from the exploitation of this intellectual property.

Technology supply: authorization for the use of technology, technical solution or know-how not protected by intellectual property rights. In this modality, Embrapa authorizes the use under pre-determined conditions, without exclusivity. The retribution can be calculated based on a percentage of sales of products or services derived from the technology. Another possibility is to establish a fixed payment (technology fee). 


Entrepreneur - Make our technology the basis of your incubated company or startup/spin-off

This is a modality of technology insertion in the market to foment new businesses that involves three parties: Embrapa, an incubator and the company/entrepreneur that will formulate a business model based on Embrapa's technology and do the commercial exploration. Here are also used the instruments of licensing, assignment or technology supply.

Knowledge - Access and use the knowledge we generate

To develop innovative technologies, our research team works at the frontier of knowledge, generating new knowledge and methods. The knowledge we generate is disseminated to the academic-scientific community through scientific publications, technical publications, and lectures. Much of the content generated is available for free download on our site. In addition, we periodically promote courses, training and events with the aim of bringing to our customers the technological know-how we generate, in order to prospect trends and opportunities for cooperation.
