The collared peccary ( Tayassu tajacu) are rustic and gregarious animals who provide meat and leather of excellent quality, being thus an important source of protein especially to the subsistence of the Amazon's needy population. The use of this animal is, however, being done without planned hunting, being thus associated with the destruction of their natural habitat and, consequently, the loss of these resources, which are scarcely known. Genetic Vegetable resources, globally, involve a number of around 300,000 identified species, of which 30,000 are edible and only 30 consist of foods that feed the world's population. However, from this total, only three species provide 50% of proteins necessary in a regular diet (rice, wheat and corn). Environmental systems (SA) have gained great visibility as mechanisms of environmental conservation and improvement of living conditions for rural communities. However, when compared to services of provision of food, fiber and energy, SAs such as carbon sequestration and water conservation are generally put in an inferior level. Given its importance even to the sustainability of agriculture, it is necessary that these SAs move from the sphere of discourse into the sphere of practical realities.
