In recent years, there has been a tremendous advance in the frontier of knowledge in advanced biology. The impacts of this advance can be observed in the areas of molecular and cellular biology, with the mastery of gene engineering techniques, which led to the cloning of animal cells in the early 2000s, unprecedented in Brazil, and more recently to the emergence of new Areas of science, such as nanotechnology, epigenetics and genomics, among others. The project seeks to incorporate these advance Status: Completed Start date: Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2015 |
The generation of genetically modified animals has been suggested as an alternative for the production of recombinant drugs for human or animal use, however it is also an alternative for the generation of more disease resistant or more productive animals. Currently there are several alternatives to generate genetically modified animals, but still inefficient when applied in animals of zootechnical production. This project was part of Embrapa's project network entitled "Animal biotechnology in th ... Status: Completed Start date: Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2009 |
The collared peccary ( Tayassu tajacu) are rustic and gregarious animals who provide meat and leather of excellent quality, being thus an important source of protein especially to the subsistence of the Amazon's needy population. The use of this animal is, however, being done without planned hunting, being thus associated with the destruction of their natural habitat and, consequently, the loss of these resources, which are scarcely known.
