Historically, the agricultural activities in the northeast of Pará have been concentrated in the hands of small farmers and family-based workforce, who dedicate themselves almost exclusively to subsistence farming with focus on yuca (Manihot esculenta), corn and caupi-beans (Vigna Unguiculata) as crops with most significant socio-economic expression. This practice is done with little or no use of agricultural supplies, such as lime and fertilizers, leading the region's lands, which already have ... Sugarcane is one of the pillars of the Brazilian agricultural economy. Productivity gains combined with an industrial activity developed for use in the sugar and ethanol production have led researchers to seek agroindustrial management strategies to reduce costs. This project proposes the application of diazotrophic bacteria as a biological input to fully or partially meet sugarcane's nutritional needs with regard to nitrogen. Agribusiness is one of the pillars of the Brazilian economy and a considerable part of the trade surplus achieved in recent years is due to exports of agricultural products . The product list is quite long , but some species are characterized by high demand and high production , such as soybeans , coffee and cane sugar. In family farming system, farmers and their families are responsible for agricultural work and for the management of small and medium property. Often, the low purchasing power of the majority and the lack of appropriate technical guidance make farmers adopt undesirable practices while growing maize. The range of satisfactory yields depends, among other factors, on a good soil fertility, seeding in appropriate times, an effective management of insect pests and diseases, and especially quality ...Status: Completed Start date: Sat Oct 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2011 |
The state of Pará is the largest northern producer of rice, corn and caupi beans, and the second largest soy producer. These species are cultivated in all the macro-regions of the state, where the Research and Technology Transfer Support Centers (NAPTs) of the Oriental Amazon are located. Based on this structure, this project aims to propose a strategy for the disclosure and transference of cultivars that are adequate to the region's producers' socio-economic and environmental conditions, throug ... The insects of the order Lepidoptera are the main pests affecting the crop of corn and can cause up to 34% reductions in production. The control of these pests is achieved primarily through the use of chemical insecticides, a system that brings negative effects to man, animals and environment. The use of biological control in pest management has emerged as an alternative to minimize these effects of the application of synthetic chemical insecticides, preserving the natural environment and the ...Status: Completed Start date: Mon Oct 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2012 |
The national and international demand for ethanol and the increasing concerns with world climatic changes is generating the expectation of an increase in the use of biofuels and consequently an increase in the area planted with sugarcane in Brazil. Brazil is the largest producer and exporter of sugarcane products in the world, and the state of São Paulo has been responsible for nearly half of the national production in the latest years. Among the state's regions, the northeastern portion, whi ...Status: Completed Start date: Thu Nov 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2012 |
This project has developed approaches of analysis, categorization and disclosure of information regarding agricultural development in centers with expressive production of soy and sugarcane, and with focus on their relationship between land use and occupation dynamics, agricultural practices and other environmental and socio-economic variables. In the agro-environmental sense, the analysis and mapping were focused in processes of agricultural development, highlighting the importance of the secon Status: Completed Start date: Wed Apr 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2009 |
Society has become increasingly aware of the need to preserve the environment and health, demanding quality standards for food and agro-ecosystems. In this context, the rational use of phytosanitary products guarantees the sustainability of food production systems, mitigating, and even eliminating the effects caused by the indiscriminate use of chemical control. Other relevant aspects to be considered are the benefits arising from the crop-livestock integration that mitigate the negative effects Status: Completed Start date: Wed Aug 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
The main goal of the project is the conception of a new silo with improved air flow to dry newly-harvested corn cobs. Smallholders generally use silos that create strong resistance to room air flow, causing reduced grain quality. Studies indicate that the Venturi effect in drying silos could solve the issue of low air flow in such silos. The incorporation of the Venturi effect will be performed through a conic metal wall structure that will receive the wind on a more open wall. The wind will lea Status: Completed Start date: Wed Jun 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2016 |
