This study analyses the mobilization experience of two groups of women which practice mangaba extractivism and call themselves pickers. They inhabit restinga areas (sandbanks) and tabuleiros (tablelands) in the Brazilian northeast and fields of the north, where they practice various activities (fishing, handicraft, tourism wage-earning, etc.), which are essential to their family's reproduction.
