The Network on Nanotechnology applied to Agribusiness was implemented in 2006 and has already completed two cycles as a Network Project. The new cycle intends to advance in the existing knowledge and actions, contributing to the understanding of the processes of upscaling the production of nanoproducts, thus meeting the need to evaluate, quantify and estimate the ability to produce nanomaterials that have been successfully produced in lab activities, whose processes need to be adequately planned Status: Completed Start date: Tue Dec 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2015 |

This project expands the partnership between Itaipi Binacional and Embrapa, generating new findings in technology research and transfer related to the production and use of biogas and biofertilizers. It will aslo support a previous contract between both companies to complement ongoing work at the Ajuricaba Basin Agroenergy Cooperative. The project will create alternative thecnologies to produce biogas and biofertilizers from the treatment and reuse of waste generated by milk production and by pi Status: Completed Start date: Wed May 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2013 |
The palm oil tree is, among the oilseeds, the most productive one, being able to reach an annual production of 10 tons/hectare in favorable conditions. The oil has many uses in food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, and is also considered one of the best oils to produce biodiesel. In 2010, worldwide production of palm oil, cultivated in 14,99 million hectares, was of 45,09 million tons, while the production of soy oil, cultivated in 102,38 million hectares, was of 39,76 million tons. Currently, Brazil is the fourth largest consumer of fertilizers in the entire world; on average, the fertilizers may represent from 25 to 40% of the variable cost of the most important agricultural production systems in the country. One of the main cost variables is the fact that great quantities of applied nutrients via fertilizers are lost through volatilization and leaching. Thusly, methods of nutrient fixation which allow their extended-release in the soil might contribute to a more rational Status: Completed Start date: Sun Nov 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2009 |
The emission increase of greenhouse effect gases and the high petroleum prices have elevated the demand for renewable fuels. For diesel, the most used fuel in the country, the main option has been the use of vegetable oil and animal fat by-products. However, there are two major problems regarding the production of vegetal oils which could hinder the use of these products as fuel: the quality and the quantity of oils produced. Of all the cultivated species, only the palm oil has the needed produc Status: Completed Start date: Wed Dec 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2010 |

This work's proposal is to develop a pilot project focused on carrying out two objectives that target the corporative environment. The first is to build for the visually impaired a website that will allow them to access Embrapa's findings in the fields of science, technology and innovation. The second aims to adapt the technologies into specific material that would allow these persons' interaction with Embrapa's science and technology research findings in key places such as fairs, exhibitions or Status: Completed Start date: Sun Apr 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
The adoption of intensive pig farming systems brought economies of scale, greater productivity and logistic gains, but it increased the incidence of infections and animal stress levels, resulting in bouts of infectious diseases and making the use of antimicrobials in subtherapeutic or preventive doses necessary to promote growth and to mitigate the occurrence of diseases.
