It is assumed that human tuberculosis by M. bovis in developing countries today is analogous to the situation in 1930 and 1940 in Europe, where it was responsible for more than 50% of cases of cervical lymphadenitis in children, which can be aggravated by the extra weight of AIDS/HIV. In Brazil, of 200 positive cultures of tuberculous patients, seven (3.5%), all isolated from children, were M. bovis. Five had pulmonary origin, two of which being multidrug-resistant (MDR), isoniaz Status: Completed Start date: Sat Dec 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2007 |
Recent evidence from observational studies and controlled clinical trials indicates that milk fat, although predominantly saturated, has neutral or positive effects on cardiometabolic health. Such benefits have been attributed to the complex and unique chemical nature of milk fat, which contains several compounds potentially beneficial to health, such as butyric acid (C4:0), vaccenic acid ( trans-11 C18:1), rumenic acid ( cis--9, trans-11 CLA), oleic acid ( cis-9 C18 ... The Compost Barn system has the purpose of reducing costs in the implementation and maintenance of animal facilities, improving herd production and sanitary indices, and enabling the correct use of dairy farming organic waste (feces and urine). The system consists of a large covered space for the cows to rest. The floor is covered with sawdust, wood cutting scraps and composted manure. The main objective of Compost Barn is to ensure comfort to the animals and a dry place for them to stay during Status: Completed Start date: Tue Sep 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2015 |
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a management tool to assess the environmental performance of products throughout their life cycle. It is a methodology with strong, internationally recognized scientific foundations, established by the series of ISO 14040 standards. LCA is used in some countries to elaborate public policy. It is also widely used by the private sector for the development of products and processes, the development of business-oriented strategies, and to communicate environmental aspe Status: Completed Start date: Sat Mar 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2014 |

Natural rubber is a strategic product for Brazil and the world. The State of São Paulo has a large share in national production, with perspectives of expansion and the implementation of new rubber plantations at both the business and family farming levels. Although the growth of the crop is expressive, the productive sector lacks updated information. The GeoHevea project uses geotechnology tools to expand knowledge about the dynamics of land use and occupation and to evaluate the sustainabili ...Status: Completed Start date: Fri Nov 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2013 |
Given the serious agricultural losses suffered by the highland region of the state of Rio de Janeiro due to heavy rainfall in January 2011, this projects aimed at transferring agroecological technologies that have been already developed and adapted to the region through cooperative methodologies that foster interaction between researchers and farmers. It was expected to contribute to counter the environmental and economic risk scenario afflicting family farming in the region; diversify productio Status: Completed Start date: Thu Mar 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2012 |
Implementing communication and technology transfer actions that maximize the understanding, use and reuse of information and technologies generated by Embrapa and adapted to the state of Mato Grosso. The proposal is to promote in loco practical activities such as transfer and environmental education activities, exploring the rural space defined in technological (annual and perennial crops) and ecological (Permanent Preservation Areas- PPA) pathways, and the virtual space with the use of informat Status: Completed Start date: Wed Feb 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2012 |
The main environmental problems associated with the waste produced in intensive pig farming are its high organic load, high amount of nutrients, the presence of some metallic species and of micro-organisms, some of which are known pathogenic agents. In general, the waste treatment systems in pig farms still lack the ability to reduce or eliminate pathogenic agents from the waste produced, a fact which makes it difficult to reuse the water in the very facility or even in agriculture. This project was carried out in the region of Pernambuco known as Sertão and in the north of Bahia in order to train rural leaders, extension workers and agricultural technicians in silviculture of multiple-use forest species and agroforestry systems, as well as notions of ecology and the environment. Through courses and training, agents were trained to develop and implement a sustainable management plan for the caatinga area in small and medium rural properties in the Brazilian semiarid regi ...Status: Completed Start date: Sat Mar 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2008 |
