In the first phase of the project, potential seed treatment approaches were developed and evaluated to improve the vigor and germination of the cassava planting material, in order to decrease the size of the seed cuttings and, thus, increase the multiplication rates of the crop.
In this second phase, emphasis will be placed on demonstrating the technology's potential to increase vigor, multiplication rate and root yield.

The general objective is to evaluate the potential of microorganisms isolated from the rhizosphere soil and internal tissues of Ananas spp., from different environments, in the development of pineapple seedlings in order to develop technological packages for the production of healthy pineapple plants, as well as to understand the role of these microorganisms to aid plant defense against fusariosis and pineapple wilt in order to obtain plants with greater vigor and tolerance to biotic stresses. < ...

Brazilian dairy farming is distributed throughout the national territory, generates thousands of direct and indirect jobs and has a significant participation in the gross domestic product (GDP). The annual national milk production is estimated at more than 30 billion liters, according to the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), being concentrated in the Southeast, South and Midwest regions. The following mesoregions concentrate more than 40% of Brazilian milk production: Noroe

Most stargrass and bermudagrass species grown in Brazil were developed and evaluated in the United States. The cultivars grown in Brazil were not developed for Brazilian environmental conditions and there are no official records showing the introduction of the species in Brazil, thus this happened possibly due to the curiosity of some cattle farmers. The aim of the project was the development of stargrass and bermudagrass clones adapted to soil and climatic conditions of Minas Gerais State, Braz

The silvopastoral systems are a viable option to avoid degradation of pastures due to their potential to control erosion and the ability of some tree species to add nitrogen and other nutrients to the pasture, improving soil fertility. However, an important aspect in these systems refers to the competition for light between the tree/shrub and herbaceous components. Tiller production and the consequent density of inflorescences, directly related to seed production and, therefore, to natural resee

Among the pathogens infecting grapevines, viruses particularly stand out due to the damages they cause and the degeneration (loss of vigor) of the plants they affect throughout the years, resulting in reduced production and quality of grapes. This could even economically impair this activity. In specific combinations of rootstock/cultivar and viral species, grapevine viral diseases can be latent and could thus go undetected and be successively propagated, resulting in high levels of infection in

The Platonia insignis tree possesses the singular trait of sprouting through the roots. At Oriental Amazon, in older areas where Platonia insignis bushes occur naturally one may notice the sprouting of this arboreal species, in ways that resemble weeds. Many farmers replant these spontaneous sprouts, with sufficient spacing in between them, then adequately trim their crowns and care for the new sprouts, allowing the formation of new bushes and thus helping to restore degraded are

Pastures assume a prominent position in the Brazilian agricultural scenario, covering about three quarters of the cultivated area nationwide. In addition to the physical aspect, pastures are the main feeding source for the Brazilian herd. Pastures account for almost 90% of the beef consumed in Brazil and for most of the 21 billion liters of milk produced annually in the country. It is estimated today that in Brazil grasses of the genus Brachiaria are cultivated in approximately 84 millio
