In previous projects, Embrapa Dairy cattle developed nanostructured intramammary formulations of mastitis, which show potential therapeutic use in the treatment of bovine keratoconjunctivitis. Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis is a contagious disease that affects the eyes of cattle of all age groups, mainly calves, caused by Moraxella bovis. Mastitis, a disease that affects dairy herds worldwide and causes huge economic losses to the Brazilian dairy sector has the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria as one of the major etiologic agents. Factors associated with environment and management and those directly related to animals, such as the health of the mammary gland, have major influence on milk quality.
