Protein-protein interactions virtually regulate all processes inside cells, e.g. signal transduction, metabolic regulation, gene regulation, and immunological responses which occur in a specific way. Several experimental methods are capable of detecting interactions between proteins, which can range from cellular "resolution" to experiments which expose atom level interactions. However, the performance of these combined experiments which generate complete information regarding the network of pro ... Status: Completed Start date: Sat Aug 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2009 |
Computation used as a tool by scientific research has revolutionized the biological sciences, as it has done with many other fields of science, and considering the exponentially increasing amount and complexity of the scientific data being generated and needing to be efficiently handled, translated, processed and communicated, new computational resources are needed for the effective treatment of all this volume of data that makes it possible to transform it into knowledge and subsequently, as th Status: Completed Start date: Fri Apr 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2011 |
Enzymes have their function essentially determined by specific residue known as catalytic residue. Most methods to predict enzyme catalytic residue uses at least one criterion of primary sequence conservation. Considering that the function is a product of the structure, this project aims to identify among the structural descriptors available in the Sting software database those of higher relevance in the discrimination of catalytic residue. Thus, the project will propose a new enzyme classificat Status: Completed Start date: Sun Aug 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2010 |
The Brazil Nut Tree, also known as Pará's Nut Tree or Amazonia's Nut Tree ( Bertholletia excelsa Bonpl., Lecythidaceae), is one of the most exuberant trees of the Amazonian Forest. It produces woody fruits (husks), which have from 10 to 25 seeds (almonds), that can be consumed in natura or industrialized, rich in proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins and selenium. In Brazil, the largest producers of Brazil Nut are the stateds of Pará, Amazonas, Acre and Rondônia. This nut's se ... Status: Completed Start date: Thu Jul 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2010 |
Status: Completed Start date: Tue Feb 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2011 |
The program of genetic improvement of the cupuaçu tree ( Theobroma grandiflorum) needs to tend to the demand of new cultivares, especially of those resistant to the Monilophthora perniciosa fungus, the agent responsible for causing the deformity known as witch's broom disease, and also to increase as much as possible the genetic base of planting material. This project aims to develop new technologies which promote the quick multiplication of selected cultivares, as well as to early select ... The project aims to estimate carbon balance in different grain production system scenarios in the major Brazilian biomes, ranking those that reduce the consequences of climate change, via computational simulators. The information generated in this project will be used in the project "Classification and spatialization of grain production systems with the use of remote sensing", aiming to produce regional estimates of the carbon balance and GHG emissions for Brazil's entire grain production area. ...
