The project was conducted in order to identify and evaluate alternatives to produce genetically modified embryos and, subsequently, genetically modified ruminant animals, by identifying methods or procedures that enable the production of ruminant transgenic embryos in a more efficient way, reducing time and costs. Such procedures, associated with the insertion of genes of interest, may allow the generation of genetically modified animals capable of producing recombinant proteins important for an Status: Completed Start date: Fri Apr 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2011 |
Wheat production in Brazil has been insufficient to supply the internal market's demand, being thus necessary to increase production, productivity levels as well as cultivated areas. The planting process in the Cerrado region in Central Brazil is seen as an alternative to decrease wheat production's deficit in the country once the region offers advantages such as high luminosity, dry climate, higher possibility of disease control, and industrial quality grains. The types of cultivation in the re Status: Completed Start date: Fri Apr 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2011 |
The generation of genetically modified animals has been suggested as an alternative for the production of recombinant drugs for human or animal use, however it is also an alternative for the generation of more disease resistant or more productive animals. Currently there are several alternatives to generate genetically modified animals, but still inefficient when applied in animals of zootechnical production. This project was part of Embrapa's project network entitled "Animal biotechnology in th ... Status: Completed Start date: Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2009 |
Milk production systems have gone through a process of specialization characterized by increasing the size of the herds, productivity and, notably, by reducing the man: cow relationship. The downsizing of skilled labour in production systems demands the development of precision dairy farming tools that allow the generation of individualized data of animals in a given herd. For that matter, there is a need not only for sensors capable of identifying and generating data on individual animals, but Status: Completed Start date: Sat Mar 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2014 |
In recent years, there has been a tremendous advance in the frontier of knowledge in advanced biology. The impacts of this advance can be observed in the areas of molecular and cellular biology, with the mastery of gene engineering techniques, which led to the cloning of animal cells in the early 2000s, unprecedented in Brazil, and more recently to the emergence of new Areas of science, such as nanotechnology, epigenetics and genomics, among others. The project seeks to incorporate these advance Status: Completed Start date: Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2015 |
The identification of economically relevant genes might translate into considerable competitive advantage in markets more and more competitive and globalized. Genes which are associated with plague resistance, productivity increase and organoleptic attributes (which can be experienced by the senses such as color, taste and texture) appreciated by consumers are extremely important to the Brazilian stockbreeding market. There is a considerable number of bioinformatic tools that are available to th Status: Completed Start date: Tue Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2008 |
The Compost Barn system has the purpose of reducing costs in the implementation and maintenance of animal facilities, improving herd production and sanitary indices, and enabling the correct use of dairy farming organic waste (feces and urine). The system consists of a large covered space for the cows to rest. The floor is covered with sawdust, wood cutting scraps and composted manure. The main objective of Compost Barn is to ensure comfort to the animals and a dry place for them to stay during Status: Completed Start date: Tue Sep 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2015 |
Livestock is one of the main highlights of Brazilian agribusiness. In recent years, issues related to food safety, energy, and environmental security have been the subject of discussions. In this scenario, the increase in demand for food and at the same time the pressure of society and importing countries for sustainable production systems, which requires a paradigm shift in agricultural production systems. In this context of rapid change, increasing the livestock efficiency is essential to ensu Status: Completed Start date: Sun Jun 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2014 |
This project proposes to develop selected pure lineages of maternal traits for high reproduction performance, weight gain, longevity and functional structure: selected pure lineages of terminal paternal traits for high performance, weight gain, food conversion and meat quality; and to define usage strategies to optimize genetic material (crossbreeding to form matrices and slaughter animals) with this material's cost reduction to producers. The strategy is to develop technical cooperation contrac Status: Completed Start date: Wed Sep 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2010 |
OTAG – Operational Management and Geodecisional Prototype to Track and Trace Agricultural Production
The international OTAG Project aimed at enhancing innovative, economically viable geotechnologies, methods and mechanisms which are capable of registering animal (beef cattle) origin and production data with precision and accuracy. Embrapa Satellite Monitoring coordinated Embrapa's activities in this project. One of its main objectives was to adapt and optimize the available geospatial technology with the aim of improving the quality of the products and management practices in the beef cattle ...Status: Completed Start date: Wed Jul 01 00:00:00 GMT-03:00 2009 |
