The cattle raising activity in the Amazon has generated degradation of millions of hectares of grasslands, associated to economical decadence due to the low productivity and a series of global factors, requiring thus alternatives capable of overcoming these limitations, in addition to the ability to re-incorporate this great land extension to the productive process. In this sense, this project aims to evaluate, adapt and develop innovating systems of integration agriculture-cattle farming (LP),

The project aims to estimate carbon balance in different grain production system scenarios in the major Brazilian biomes, ranking those that reduce the consequences of climate change, via computational simulators. The information generated in this project will be used in the project "Classification and spatialization of grain production systems with the use of remote sensing", aiming to produce regional estimates of the carbon balance and GHG emissions for Brazil's entire grain production area. ...

Some animal creations require high energy consumption which leads to higher costs of the final products. If less expensive energy sources were used, this could provide significant increases in profits from livestock. In this regard, the use of dairy cattle manure for the generation of biogas is a promising alternative for the treatment of waste and reduction of the pollution potential and health risks of waste, with the additional advantage that the final effluent can be used as bio-fertilizer.

Dairy Cattle Farming represents one of the most important alternatives to migrating slash-and-burn agriculture in the Amazon, and lately, has been suffering a process of intensification. This activity has presented in the last years significant growth rates in the northern region, being thus one of the greatest in the country although it remains as the region with the smallest aggregate production. However, this evolution is predominantly a result of the increase in the dairy cattle herd and in

Family farming is an economically important segment nationwide, but has many weaknesses of social and technological order. Parallel to this, concerns about the negative environmental impacts of agriculture, livestock and forestry are getting increasingly important on the agenda of society, and the use of inadequate agricultural practices is one of the main causes of degradation of cultivated areas. Given the growing worldwide demand for food, fiber, wood and biofuels, and the consequent need for

The project "An Integration of Mitigation and Adaptation Options for Sustainable Livestock Production under Climate Change", known as AnimalChange, is focused on research about mitigation and adaptation options aimed at the sustainable development of animal production in Europe, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. The program's specific goals are as follows: quantifying and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from livestock systems; assessing the impacts, adaptation and vulne ...

Milk production systems have gone through a process of specialization characterized by increasing the size of the herds, productivity and, notably, by reducing the man: cow relationship. The downsizing of skilled labour in production systems demands the development of precision dairy farming tools that allow the generation of individualized data of animals in a given herd. For that matter, there is a need not only for sensors capable of identifying and generating data on individual animals, but

The objective of this project is to develop tools and contents for mobile devices, aiming to improve the accessibility of technical content for farmers / workers and support the action of extensionists, promoting innovation in the milk production chain. For this work, the level of literacy, skills and resources available to farmers and extension workers are considered, so that they have access to and can understand the information and technological knowledge, allowing their individual and profes

Bifequali TT takes technologies to beef cattle farmers, with a focus on capacity-building for technicians. The participating properties are monitored and assessed so that the impact of the application of Embrapa's recommendations can be learned.
In 2013, technicians and Demonstrative Units were selected. The technicians have undergone training and the Demonstrative Units have been visited by members of the program. With the submission of this project, the group that is working on the progra ...

Rio Grande do Sul (RS) has the second highest state production of milk in the Brazilian Federation. Such an activity is widespread throughout the state, involving a significant share of farmers, with great economic and social relevance for generating wealth and income and contributing to the maintenance of a significant share of the state's population in the countryside. RS is located in a region with temperate clime, which has peculiar characteristics of climate, soil, vegetation cover, cattle
